Trying a bit of Clean and Simple

ps1a

WoooHoo!!!! my new camera arrived late yesterday afternoon so I am back in Business, as I was saying yesterday I have been trying my hand at clean and simple not sure yet whether I am cut out for this style, I really admire all you girls who produce such stunning cards without the use of embellishments and backing papers, I have a long way to go I am afraid.

ps1

I am quite pleased with this one but not sure if it fits the criteria, (but you must admit it is a pretty drastic change from my usual fussy cards).   Since I have had this little darling little Lili of the Valley  “No 7 Bear” I have wanted to colour him in sepia but I hadn’t got any Hot Press Watercolour Paper, keep forgetting to Order it, so I decided to try and get the effect using Copics, (colours below).  Last week I ordered a few Co-Ordinations Pads and Distressing Pad from Crafters Companion,  I love this card and the effects you can achieve with just a little work, I run the dark brown card through the Cuttlebug in the Happy Birthday Embossing Folder, then sanded it down with the Distressing Pad.  The only embellie is the Tim Holtzs Adage Ticket which I have stapled to the corner.

ps1b

The Copics used to Colour my Lili of the Valley “No 7  Bear

E35, E31, E53, E50.

I will show you another couple of Clean and simply cards , I am very brave as these should really go straight in the bin but I would really appreciate your comments on where I can improve on this style any criticism and advice would be appreciated as I would really like to conquer this style.  Both cards have been made using Lili of the Valley Stamps.

ps3

Martha Stewart Border Punch and Fleur De Lys Spellbinder have been distressed with Distress Ink “Forest Moss” The Copics used on Lili of the Valley Garden of Wishesare:

Flesh: E21, E00, E000, R20

Hair, E71, E70, E40

Dress & Wings : B04, B02, B00, B0000, Goo, G0000

and finally my first effort

ps2

This one was made using flowers and swirls from the Lili of the Valley Folk Flowers A5 Sheet from  Clear Additions Collection.  I know I have been a bit heavy handed with the Distress Ink on this one, (I told you it should of gone in the Bin).

I did promise I would do a few tutorials on colouring hair, folds and pleats I will make a start today now I have my camera.

Hope you have a good day

Hugs

Jacqui xxxx

Jacqui, I know just what you mean. I find CAs so hard as I just want to clart them up! But honestly I really do like these, perhaps CAs should be just that nice and clean looking I think they are great just as they are! Not much help, but my honest humble opinion. Judy x

Nowt wrong with clean and simple Mummy Fairy - I've been clean and simple for years, especially the simple bit lol!!! These are fab - I LOVE them I really do. And I love the fact that you are trying something different - we should all do that cos it's easy to get stuck in a rut just cos what we usually do works so hats off to ya I say :)xxx Hope you are OK and will catch up soon. Hugs and squishes xxxx

I think they're fabulous Jacqui.
When I saw the beautiful colouring of James the bear I did think how fabulous he would be on just a plain white card with maybe the words dream stamped next to him.

I like them all Jaqui - my favourite one is the last, the flowers and swirls with seam binding! I can't do clean and simple at all so I cant give you any tips - same with the garden, if there is a bare patch of soil I have to fill it up .... Mary G x

Jacqui, I think you've done extremely well with all of them and please don't consign any to the bin! I don't really know much about CAS because my cards are fussy ones on the whole (except the Clarity ones). However, my favourite is the last one with the flowers, which I feel really meets the CAS style beautifully! Well done!
