Cute and Girly and a little Sneak of a Sneak

002a

The theme on this weeks   Creative Card Crew Challenge is just up my street CUTE AND GIRLY, it also gives me a chance to use another of the new Magnoia Travel Stamps.

002

I decided on the papers for this card before I made it, but forgot to try and match flowers and ribbons, so I spent ages searching my stash to find embellies to match, without success except for the ribbon, so had to make my own flowers for a change but I must say I like them so it was a happy  mistake.  The Magnolai papers are from Crafts U Love and the Tilda image is from Bunny Zoes Crafts, I have used Medium and Small retro Punch for the flowers and Wild Orchid Crafts Flat Backed Pearls for the middles,  the large Doily is from Joanna Sheens website.

Copics used: Flesh E21,E00,E000,E0000, Trousers BG32, BG23,  BG10, Blouse RV34, RV32, RV000, Hair E74, E71, E70, E40.

002b

And now for a mini sneak peek, one of the new stamps from the Lili of the Valley  ChristmasAnimal Collection that is to be released on the 19th August.  The DT will be showing full sneak peeks on the Lili of the Valley Challenge Blog tomorrow.

003a

I am also able to bring you some really Good Lili of the Valley news to our friends in the USA,  Simon Says Stamps are now stocking Lily of the Valley Stamp Set  Boy Oh Boy  they hope to be stocking the individual stamps soon.

A Little Tutorial on Combining Copics & Prisma Pencils

021a

I have had a lot of requests for a tutorial on how I mix Copics and Prismas or Poly Chromos Pencils when colouring my images.  I am not very good at these tutorials but I have decided to give it a try.  I have used a Lili of the Valley   James the Bear image for this tutorial.

Just a short note about Prismas & Faber Castell Polychromos pencils, these are really soft wax like pencils (quite expensive but really worth the money), they both do the same job so this tutorial work for both.  Because of the soft wax like texture of the pencils you are able to spread them by using Paper Stumps and Low odour Solvent, I use Sansodor which is widely available from Art Shops.  THERE IS ONE RULE WHEN COMBINING THE TWO MEDIUMS – THE PENCILS MUST BE USED AFTER YOU HAVE DONE ALL YOUR COLOURING WITH THE COPICS,  - IT WILL COMPLETELY RUIN YOUR MARKERS IF THE NIBS COME INTO CONTACT WITH THE PENCILS OR THE SANSODOR.   I use a small bottle with a sponge in and add Sansodor until the sponge is completely soaked this makes it easier to wet the nib of the paper stump.

014

To start colouring James apply Copic E53 around the hate and side of face as shown in picture one, then add E51 to bring the colour further out into the face making sure you also blend in E53 picture 2, finally using E50 go over the whole face blending in the 2 previous colours – picture 3

001  002 003

Using the same colours and method colour the rest of the fur as below.

004 005 006

Now for the Hat and Presents using R08 colour around the edges of the present and James Hat – picture 1,  using the same method as for the fur now add R02 – picture 2, and finally add R000 – picture 3.

007 008 009

The last step is adding the final colour to the pre4sent and his foot and ear.  BG13 has been used for the first step in colouring the blue present & ribbon, and R02 for the foot and ears – picture 1, the next blue to be added is BG11 & R000 is added to the rest of the foot and ears – picture 2.  The last blue is BG10.  You have now finished colouring James with the Copics and we will go on to the final step.

010 011 012

Now to add the deep shadows with the Pencils, The lines of pencil are a bit thicker than I would usually make them but this is try to make them easier for you to see.  Add a thin line of BLACK pencil around the edges of the red hat and present – picture 1, then dipping the end of your stump into the sansodor, use the wet stump and small circular motions move the pencil out into the image – picture 2, then add dark brown pencil around the edges of fur picture 2, to complete blend out the brown as before – picture 3

013 015 018

Here is the image with all the steps completed

020

The final card has been made with Bo-Bunny Papers and Snowflakes punched with Martha Stewart Snowflakes Punches  and glittered with Glamour Dust.

021  Hope this has been helpful but if you need any more info or help please e-mail me.

Have a good Sunday

Come fly with me

014a
You know me and my addiction to Magnolia, so as soon as I received the New release from Nikki at Bunny Zoes Crafts I had to use at least one of the images. I found this brilliant sketch on Sunday Sketch and Stamp Challenge and I couldn’t wait to get down to usingit.
015
OMG I have just looked at the picture and I can see a blooming great big finger print in the stickles on her sleeve, now thats what you get when rushing (note to self make sure your Stickles are dry before you start to take pictures!!!).  I have used 3 of the new release stamps on the card, The sentiment, Tilda and the Ticket Stamp just peeking out under the image.  The papers are from the New Magnolia Release available at Crafts U Love , I have distressed the edges and add Stickles to them, The Cherry Blossom & 30mm Wild Rose are from Wild Orchid Crafts, they have been sprayed with Pwarl Glimmer Mist and Silver Stickles have been used on the edges, the little flowers are punched with the small Retro Punch and the flat back pearls in the centre are also from Wild Orchid Crafts as is the fabulous Lace.
013Off to my first visit to IKEA, can you believe I am an IKEA virgin really looking forward to seeing all the goodies there.  Have a great weekend everyone

Just Magnolia Challenge - Acetate

006a

It’s the first Friday of the month, so it’s Special Monthly Challenge time sponsored as always by Simon Says Stamp.  And they are sponsoring the prize with a fabulous $30 voucher to spend in their store (and they pay the shipping!)  Pop across to their store and take a peek at all the new goodies they have in – oh my the Tim Holtz stuff is droolworthy!!

sss-special-monthly-challen

Our challenge this month is ACETATE – you need to incorporate it into your project in any way you like, so it could be an acetate card like some of our more adventurous DT members have done, it could be an acetate pocket, a shaker card, an altered acetate container or even simply used as an embellishment (like Bev did ).

006

I am a bit late with this card I didn’t get home until 10pm last night and was just too tired to finish it, serves me right for leaving everything to the last minute.   I found a sheet of Die Cut Snowflakes in last years Christmas Paper stash, have no idea where it came from but it was perfect for this card.  I cut a 5.1/2” sq from the die cut sheet and glued it to a 5.1/2” square card made from acetate, I wish you could see it in real life as it looks as if the whole thing is just like filigree.  I coloured one of last years Christmas Tildas with Distress Inks I added Cherry Blossom, 15cm Roses and 6mm Closed Rosebuds from Wild Orchid Crafts the edges of all the flowers have been glittered, this hasn’t been picked up by the camera.

003

Have a good day everyone and thanks for looking

Lili of the Valley Challenge

001a

Another scheduled post from me today, didn’t quite finish the bathroom yesterday so have to go and do the final touches today.  It is Challenge 59 at Lili of the Valley Challenge this week and we have a great sketch by our own Bev for you.  We are also pleased to say that from this week Lili of the Valley Challenge will be reverting back to weekly challenges instead of fortnightly, we have decided to do this due to the amount of comments we get asking for more and we aim to please.

001I just couldn’t get a good photo of this, I seem to have problems with Reds.  This image is Lili of the Valley Christmas release called Christmas Candle, and I have up until now always coloured her in pastel colours, so it is taking me a bit of getting used to seeing her in these colours.  The paper is Bo Bunny, its double sided and has a fabulous Holly design on the other side.  The Wild Roses, Cherry Blossom and  10mm Roses  are from Wild Orchid Crafts as is the lush lace.

002Enjoy your day

A Thank You card

003a

My Aunt is going home today so I thought I would make a thank you card for her as having her here has been such a help, and she has been brilliant company for me.

I have been so shocked and upset hearing the story of the poor Mother & Daughter who died alone in Hereford, I just keep thinking about how that poor girl must have suffered, starving to death alone in this day and age should never happen, I hope it gives us all a jolt and we  realise the importance of being a good neighbour, not a nosey neighbour there is a difference, perhaps if someone had noticed that they hadn’t seen the mother for a few days this terrible tragedy would never of happened.

003Well with that off my chest I will get on with telling you about this Thank You card.  I have used the cute Lili of the Valley Bear with Bouquet for this image and have used copics and Prismas to colour the image:

Bear – E13, E53, E51, E50, Flowers – R27, R05, R01, R00, Wrapping – B15, B11, B10

I have been asked by a number of you to do a tutorial on how I use both colouring mediums, I will try to get one done over the weekend.

The lovely papers are from My Minds Eye Out and About Pad, and I have used a Martha Stewart Border Punch.  The Cherry Blossom and 10mm Roses, flat backed pearls and lace are from Wild Orchid Crafts.

003cI have got to finish painting the bathroom today and then I am so looking forward to getting back into crafting woohoo!!!

Hugs and thanks for your lovely comments

Christmas in July

001a

Another of Mo’s cute images for this card that I am entering for the Stamp Something Challenge this week which is Christmas In July.

001

This is so typical of what happens on Christmas Morning I can remember my disappointment when my first son spent more time playing with boxes than his present on his 2nd Christmas.  Copics and Prismas have been used to colour the wonderful image:

Flesh – E21, E00, E000, E0000, Hat & PJ’s R27, R05, R02 E71, E70, E40, Box E74, E71, E70, E40, Paper – YG95, YG 93 YG91. Bow – Y20, Y23, Y32

The paper is from last years stash, I have used my Favourite Martha Stewart Wide Border Punch again, the snowflakes have all been punched with Martha Stewart Punches and have been covered with Twinklets.

002Have a good day see you tomorrow

Only 2 more days

003a

Only 2 more days for what, I can hear you say, its 2 days until my Aunt goes home and I can return to crafting I am beginning to get withdrawal symptoms, my fingers are itching to get colouring and cutting.  I sound so ungrateful because she has been such a good help with Mum and I have had a much needed rest, and my breathing is almost back to normal now, I do try to live a normal life and not let my Angina affect me but sometimes it catches up with you.

003I made this card for Sketch Saturday Challenge when I came up for a rest and I really enjoyed it, the first card for almost a week.  This cute young man is one of Mo’s Fabulous images and as usual he has been coloured with copics:

Face &  Skin E21, E00, E000, E0000, Dressing Gown B34, B32, B41, PJ’s and Stocking R27, R05, R02, N1, N2.

I have also added Stickles (Stardust) to the top of the stocking and Snowflake, whilst the stickles were still wet I also sprinkled Glamour Dust on them to add even more glitter.  The Gingerbread Men border as punched with a Martha Stewart Border Punch and the Snowflakes are also a MS Punch.  The Papers are from DCVW Christmas Stack.

004

Hope you all have a fabulous week
