Friday Sketchers Challenge - Sketch by Kimmie

Friday Sketchers have a great new sketch by Kimmie for us this week, and Phebe from The Town Scrappers is offering 3 great High Hopes Stamps as a prize.

I have used two of the new release High Hope stamps for this card, don't you think this little magician is gorgeous and he was such fun to colour. I expect you will have noticed I am having a bright period at the moment, maybe something to do with the weather, Roberto has been coloured with Distress Inks and H2O's and layered onto Basic Grey DP. The spacers were sent to me by my kind friend Donalda, Flowers and Button from Poppiraft and Ribbon from July Kit by Raspberry Ribbons.

I have invested in a few!!!!!ProMarkers and I wonder if anyone can help me with a little problem, I have used Stazon to ink my stamps but find that it can bleed, I have a Memories Ink Pad but this seems to do the same, is there any special paper I should be using to stop this happening.

I am so glad the weather is not so humid It is so much better for stamping now, my craft room is in the loft so it has been stifling and impossible to craft, will have to spend a few days catching up on all the kind people who have left comments over the last week, and don't forget you have until tomorrow to enter for my blog candy.

Hi Jacqui, I've got my eye on this new High Hopes stamp too, he's wonderful and you've coloured him absolutely beautifully! As Rach mentioned I find that heat setting the image before colouring does help with bleeding. I haven't got the markers that you used so I'm not sure how they react. I use versafine ink to stamp which I find gives better detail and if I'm water colouring I heat it first and make sure it's completely dry before I start colouring. Sometimes just making sure I leave the stamped image for an hour or so to be completely dry is all that's needed.

Hope this helps and I absolutely love your bright and cheerful card. Hugs, Chris x

Hi, so many lovely cards! I too have just invested in ProMarkers, and have found that the image-ink can bleed. Yesterday I read through a whole thing on a forum, and it said to use dyebased ink, not permanent ink... And I have also read to not use watercolour paper or other "rough" paper as that will wear out the tips of the markers. My experience is also that glossy paper is no good, but copypaper, white cardbord etc (Especialy the kind you used for photoalbums) are all good options. Good luck with your markers ;)

Fab card Jacqui! and I'll be interested to see your creations with the markers. When I stamp images for the girls using Copics I stamp with a black Brilliance ink pad. You can't use anything alcohol based or oil based as the alcohol in the markers will cause it to bleed. Also, I've heard that smooth card is best too. Let me know how you get on. annie x
