Lili of the Valley–Day 4 Sneak Peeks

Today is Day 4 of the Lili of the Valley Christmas 2 Sneak Peeks, from the messages I have received I think you are liking these.   I have really enjoyed colouring these images especially the Teddies and Angels but then I enjoy every release from Lili of the Valley and feel so lucky to be one of the first to get my grubby mitts in them.

IMG_0739

My long time favourite Lili of the Valley Image has always been “Fairy On Tiptoe” but this beautiful “Festive Fairy”  is now threatening to take over,  don’t know what it is about her but each time I look at the image I want to smile.

Pion Papers from Dies to Die for have been used on here, in fact it is just one double sided sheet, Lace and Flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts.  I have stamped Magnolias Silent Night Music Stamp onto a piece of scrap backing paper and popped it behind the image.

Here is Festive Fairy in close up can you see why I love her so much

Christmas Bears

Hello Peeps over here in the UK its another Bank Holiday and for once the weather looks promising, I am waiting for my Grocery delivery then I am off  to Canterbury.  I was so excited on Friday we had a brand new store open in Canterbury and instead of the usual High Class Dress or Shoe Shops etc that we usually get and that don’t really appeal to me, The Range has opened a big Superstore WoooooHooooo that's  more like it.    Lin and I where waiting at the Door dead on 9am Friday Morning and made a rush up stairs to the Craft Department, made lots of small purchases which I am so pleased with.  We finished off a real girlie morning by going to a nearby greasy spoon cafe and had a full English breakfast with all the trimmings Smile

IMG_0720

It’s Day 3 of the Lili of the Valley Christmas 2 Release Sneak Peeks and today I have gone for a completely different colour scheme for my Christmas Bears – Snowman card, the idea for the colours was taken from the lovely glitter paper that is from one of my Range purchases a First Edition Paper Pad called Festive Treats. full of lovely and unusual papers, half glittered and half double sided.   I went for quite a plain card as I wanted to show off the paper and the image.

IMG_0719

I have cut and distressed a flower punched with Magnolia Doo Hickey Doily Flower Die from Crafts U Love the stunning roses and buds are from Wild Orchid Crafts.

IMG_0721

The Copics used: Bears: E53, E51, E50 – Mid Brown PolyChromos Pencil, Greens: G29, G28, G82: Browns: E09, E08, E97, Creams YR21, YR000o.

Just Magnolia & hAnglar & stAnglar Challenge

This week I have been having a real problem with my Internet Access  no access for hours on end, but I think I have got it sorted now (fingers crossed).   So I am a bit late uploading my card for this week Just Magnolia & hAnglar & stAnglar Challenge which has been hosted by the lovely Donalda she has chosen BINGO for her challenge and it was good fun choosing what line to use.  Here is the Bingo Card, all you need to do is to choose a Horizontal or Vertical Line and use all of the 3  items on that line,

jm-bingo

I have chosen the middle vertical line, Distressing, Flowers and paper Piecing.

IMG_0710

I have paper pieced Tildas Dress and Ribbon o0n her hat. and Distressed the small scraps of papers from my scrap box.  The small Roses, lovely blossoms  and Ribbon are all from the Ribbon Girl.

IMG_0707

Tilda has been coloured with Copics.  Sorry this is so quick but as you can imagine I have a mountain of e-mails to go through now, it makes you realise how much the internet has become a part of daily living dosn’t it, I have felt quite bereft without it.

Have a good weekend everyone

I am still here !!!!

Morning Peeps, sorry for the absence had a short holiday with the Boys and Grandchildren, hired a caravan at Rye Harbour, we all had  a brilliant but tiring time, the weather was a bit windy and chilly but the boys didn’t seem to mind that.  I came back home to an order for an urgent  Wedding Card with the colour scheme of Pink and Yellow, a colour scheme that scared me a bit, but I am pleased with the results.

IMG_0694

I have used my favourite wedding image from  Lili of the Valley Stamp "Wedding Couple", the paper (which has a pale yellow background which has shown up very well) is from K&Co Watercolour Bouquet Pad, the Heart Doily behind the image is Cherry Lynn Heart To Heart Die both the paper and die are available from Dies to Die For.

The Roses and Heart Charm are both from The Ribbon Girl  and the Sentiment is from Lili of the Valleys Happy Sentiments Sheet.   I have used Copics to colour the image and Polychromos Pencils to create the background.

IMG_0693

Copics Used:

Flesh: E02, E00, E000, Hair, YR21, Y11, E35, Flowers & Ribbons, R83, R81, RV000, Suit & Hat C5, C2, C1, C0

Just Magnolia and hAnglar & stAnglar Challenge

Morning Peeps, felt a bit guilty yesterday I think my poor Copics were feeling unloved so thought I had better colour at least one card with them this week, but don’t worry I will be back to practising and finding combos with my Spectrum Noir later today, just cannot resist.
This week’s challenge on Just Magnolia & hAnglar & stAnglar challenge is Anything Goes with the option of adding Glitter.  As always our special monthly challenges are sponsored by Simon Says Stamp with a fabulous prize of a $25 voucher!

I haven’t used little Ballerina Tilda for an age forgot how sweet she is, how many of you are like me so much rubba you forget what you have got, I have stacks that have not even seen ink yet, but of course I still have to keep buying more ;(
The papers are from Nitwits Collections, none of them were whole sheets just scraps left over from a previous card, I have torn and distressed the papers and gone around the edges with  Frayed Burlap Distress Ink.  I have popped a Kiwi Doily cut with a Cherry Lynn Doily Die from Dies to Die For, behind the image and also a small label from Go-Kreate  has been distressed and popped behind at the top.  The die cut flowers have been cut with Marianne Designs Dies from Crafts U Love  and have been glittered around the edges.

Lili of the Valley Challenge–Roses and More Spectrum Noir practising

They have forecast rain for us down here in the South East corner of England, well I wish it would hurry up and arrive, it was unbearable in bed last night.  Again it was uncomfortable up here so I took myself and my Spectrums  into the garden yesterday and spent most of the day practising, the results of which are posted below.  Luckly I had already made my Card for the Lili of the Valley Challenge which this week is Roses.

IMG_0655

Again I have used Spectrum Noirs to colour the image this time I went for a Bright combo, as I say the only way to get the best out any new Markers is to experiment.  The papers are both by Magnolia and I have used Lili of the Valleys Emma Plant Pot image.  The gorgeous unusual flowers are from the Ribbon Girl.  A Doo Hickey Border die wa used for the border and a Die-namics Doily die from Dies to Die for has been popped behind the image.  I think I have fulfilled the criteria for the theme this week Roses they are everywhere.

IMG_0656

As this card is being sent to a very dear friend I have also decorated the inmside, using the same papers, roses and some frayed finger bandage

IMG_0654

The Spectrum Noirs used  to colour Emma:

Flesh: 25, 29, 109, 139, Bag, Hat Ribbon: 57, 68, 171, 178, Leaves: 42, 175, Dog: 91, 97, Roses, Plant Pot: 17, 147, 196.

Now here are 3 images I coloured up yesterday, I am really enjoying playing with my Speccies (yes they are so dear to me they have a nickname already), I was determined to get the best from the markers rather than leaving them on my desk and just looking at them, which is what I did when I first started collecting Copics they actually sat on my desk for months and I hated them just couldn’t understand how to use them properly.

The first two images are digis from the lovely Make It Crafty collection, I choose these as they had large areas of hair, flesh and cloths  to practise on

IMG_0647

IMG_0648

The final image is a Sugar Nellie Adorable Image -  Melissa , and this one was chosen to see how they worked with Pencil Sketches, I am really pleased with the result

IMG_0649

Have a lovely day, see you tomorrow

Colours for Mid Brown, Dark Blonde & Blonde Hair with Spectrum Noirs

Another Spectrum Noir question I have been asked a number of times is “What colours do you use for hair” so here are the colours for Mid Brown, Dark Blonde and Blonde hair

IMG_0642

On all of these I have started with the darkest first, but these colours should work whatever way you prefer to colour, a little tip for you that I find helps me when I am trying to find colour combos for whatever pens I use, stamp out or print 2 of the images you are working on use one for practise and when you are happy colour the final image, it looks quite funny when you have an image with rainbow coloured hair but this works for me, I then file the image I used for practise with a note of the colours in my colouring folder.

IMG_0643

Colours for Mid Brown Hair:  94, 96, 97, 25, 142

IMG_0644

Colours for Dark Blonde: 101, 104, 31, 44, 45

IMG_0645

Colours for Blonde hair: 44, 35, 37, 38

Hope this helps, if there is anything else I can help with let me know.  I will be back later with a card.

A Review of Spectrum Noirs

I have had so many e-mails this past week asking for my honest opinion of Spectrum Noirs, those of you who have followed my blog for a while know that I don’t very often endorse products other than backing papers and dies Smile and if I do I have to be really confident in that product, so this is my honest and truthful opinion on the new markers.  As I say this is just my opinion and as a member of the Crafters Companion DT you may think I could be  prejudiced  so I thought the best thing I could do was to show you the same image coloured with Spectrum Noirs and Copics and see what you think, but I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE them.
Here a few of the reasons I love them,  The tonal range has been thought out so well, I know Leann Chivers spent months and months matching the tonal value of each set of pens, this makes it so much easier for us to get good shading and blending, of course it will still take a few tries to find the combinations we like, but when I first started using Copics and Promarkers it took me ages just to sort my pens out tonally.  Then there is the fantastic Price the complete set, with no duplications for under £200 plus they are REFILLABLE, now is that value for money or not!!!!The nib is another plus point, I am not a big fan of bullet nibs as I find them a bit scratchy, but these are a little longer and softer and the ink flows really easy through them.
Please don’t rush to throw out  your Promarkers or Copics, I will still use mine but I now have the choice  of 3 sets of  Markers, I have always used both depending on how I felt that day or just for a change, you know how us crafters have to have everything!!!.  If you are just starting with Markers then Spectrum Noir are perfect for you, as I say no duplications, colours sorted into tonal ranges etc so as soon as you get them home you will be ready to use them.

For those who have been to the LOTV Colouring class or have seen my demos these markers work perfectly with Polychromos or Prisma Pencils and Sansodor.

Right thats enough from me now its time for you to make up your mind.  I would be really interested to know what you think.

Here is Mo’s Image “Dream” the first card is coloured with Spectrum Noir, I have listed the colours used below:
