Flying High

Hi all, would you believe today's card is not celebrating Christmas seems ages since I made a birthday card.  I am a bit late posting today as I spent hours last night playing with my beads, its going to be a juggling act trying to split the time between card making and beading.

sun

One of those dreaded  Boys cards, but had to be done as Grandson Ben has his birthday almost immediately after Christmas, I found these fabulous new La La Land stamps on Oyster Crafts Website last week and just couldn’t resist them, this one is called Pilot Luka, just perfect for little boys.

sun1

I found the Boarding Pass and Postcard amongst my stash, not sure where they come from but they seemed perfect for this card.  Added a couple of Tim Holtzs Ideaology elements too add some interest.

sun2

The Soft Hessian Ribbon, and Brown Tea Towel Strip Ribbon are both from the Ribbon Girl

More last minute Presents

Hi Peeps, no card for me today, hoped to have lots of time yesterday for card making, but as normal well laid plans have a habit of being upset, didn’t even get to my craft room to quite late.  I needed to make some extra little Christmas presents for table and tree gifts so I spent a few hours last night practising a new craft that I fell in love with at this years Craftaganza BEADING and Shambala Jewellery.

jew1

I ended up making 5 bracelets, a know it sounds a lot but one you have grasped how to make the square knot the Shambala bracelets take about half an hour each to make.  I bought the beads for the Shambalas from Beaders Companion.

jew2

These bracelets are not cheap but look stunning and can become a little addicitive to make

jew3

The Beaded bracelet was much harder and I still have still got lots to learn but am quite pleased with my first 2 attempts, think I have to work a little on my tension, adding thread and finishing off.  Sure I will get there in the end.  I used Black and Crystal size 10 seed beads with a couple of 6mm beads for the fastening.  The beads came from The Spellbound Bead Company.

Looking forward to taking Grandson Robert to Rye today we will be meeting up with my other Grandson Owen, I am sure I will have a great day.

Have a good day,

Hugs

Quick Card and Gift

Morning all, Tree done Yipeee, now I can get down to a bit more crafting with a clear conscious.  Today I have a really different post, it all started when my neighbour took in some parcels for me this week, I wanted to give her a little something to say thanks but not go over the top and I had also forgotten to make her a Christmas card so was going to send a shop bought one.  With time being short it got me to thinking of how to make a quick card for the unexpected visitor or someone you had forgotten, I wanted to use as little products and papers as possible (if you are like me all Christmas Papers and Embellies go back in the loft a few days before Christmas Day to give me a bit more room), this is what I came up with it took all of three quarters of an hour.

jc2

This is what I have come up with guess whats in the box!!!

jc1

Yep a box of After Eight Mints.

jc3

The card was simplicity itself, just a sheet of Pink Paper, a pre-scored and scalloped card blank, white paper and a few self adhesive pearls, 3 sets of Spellbinders Dies – Layered Poinsettia, Moroccan Accents, Moroccan Motifs.

I used 4 of the corners from Moroccan Accents set, then Large and middle Doilies from Moroccan Motifs, I layered the 2 doilies up with foam pads to add some depth, then cut two of each of the 2nd largest Poinsettia, and the 2 smaller poinsettias, I shaped the leaves(petals) with my fingers and layered them up as shown, then with 2 foam pads I add to the middle of the layered doily.  Finally  just add a few pearls, Voila its that simple and quick.

jc5

I then wrapped the choccies with white paper, cut 4 strips off pink paper to cover sides, then just using the small doily from Moroccan Motifs, I add another poinsettia made as for the card.  Add a corner from Moroccan accents to the top, for the side i cut the gorgeous Lable again from the Moroccan Accents set and stamped a small snowflake in the middle, the just added more pearls to the top and side.

jc6

A better view of the top of the box.

I promised a picture of my completed Christmas Tree here it is in all its glory

xmas1

And this is a Christmas Patchwork Wall Hanging that I made about 10 years ago it comes out each year :)

Don’t forget I have some Delicious memory Box Candy on offer, to join in scroll up to the post above.

Have a good day

Just Swinging By

Morning all, hope you are all well on with your Christmas preparations, didn’t manage to get the tree done yesterday, spent too much time shopping, but it was worth it,  all my present have now been bought all I need to do now is wrap them up.  Although I was supposed to buying for others I couldn’t resist a pair of fluffy PJ’s for myself, I wore them last night Ohhhhhh!!!! they are just so warm and cosy I cannot bring myself to take them off this morning.

th1

As I expect you have gathered by now I am in love with the Christmas release from Whimsey Stamps and this little sweet critter called Xmas Hamster is certainly one of my very favourites.  Of course he has been coloured with Copics, and more of my scraps from the Magnolia Christmas Collection Backing Papers has been used.

th4

Again the Memory Box Ornament Border has been used as well as the Christmas Swirl and Vintage Tag Dies from Doo-Hickey.  Once again rotten photos, just have such problems with reds, the top picture is more true to the real colours.

th5

I have used a variety of Flowers from Wild Orchid Crafts and The Ribbon Girl, The Gingham Ribbon,  Button and Gold Twine are all from The Ribbon Girl.

Christmas Carol

Morning my lovelies, well I managed to get most of the decorations up yesterday, still got the Lounge tree to put up but that is the last thing, I will put some piccies on here when it is all done and dusted.

Off to Westwood Cross near Broadstairs this morning to finish the last minute present buying, I feel really bad this year most of my present buying for Grown Ups, so far, consist of John Lewis or M&S Gift Vouchers, Grandchildren are so much easier they let you know what they really want.

wed1

A Whimsy Stamp  by Crissy Armstrong – this one is called Christmas Choir Girl, she is coloured with Copics as usual.  The Magnolia Papers are from my stash, not many whole sheets left of the Christmas release, so having to resort to the left overs :).  The music image behind is also a very old Magnolia Stamp.

wed3

I have used a Memory Box Die – Ornament Border just have to give you a little Heads up Oyster Stamps are offering 20% off all Memory Box Dies and Stamps until 14th December, why not pop over.  I will also have a Memory Box Die Candy for you tomorrow, so don’t forget to pop back then.

wed4

Lace, Gingham Ribbon, Berries and Rusty Jingle Bells  are all from The Ribbon Girl.

Papertake Weekly Challenge

Morning Peeps, what a bad blogger I am, been tied up with Family visits etc since Friday, still haven’t got the trees or decorations up yet, so  know what I will be doing as soon as I have finished this post.

ptw1

The new theme on Papertake Weekly Challenge this week is Snow White  -make a card or project that is predominantly white or feature snow on your card ie in the image.   We are kindly sponsored by Whiff of Joy .

ptw3

Thought I would give you a different design today, not an image in sight, but as you can see my beloved E-Bosser has been used a couple of times.  I started by running a piece of Red card and White card through the E-bosser using the large embossing folder that comes with it, then I used Cheery Lynn – English Tea Party Doily Die to cut the white doily, then I placed the Memory Box Snowflake Ornament in the middle of the doily and run it through the E-Bosser again to cut out the bauble.#

ptw3

I popped the Bauble back onto the card and added red rhinestones to the middle  of each snowflake, I punched 5 Martha Stewart Branches and added to the top of the bauble and finished with some of The Ribbon Girl Silver Twine.

May be back with another card later, I have coloured the image but need to make it into a card, depends on how long it takes me to do the trees and decs.

Have a good day

Magic Shutter Card Tutorial

At long last I have managed to complete the Magic Shutter Card Tutorial as promised,  I am sorry this post so late went shopping first thing this morning and got stuck in Canterbury there was an accident on one of the approach roads to the city and the whole area became gridlocked. This style of card was designed by a very clever friend Pam Leng, she designed it for an A4 gate fold and I have adapted it for a square card,  Right lets get started on this tutorial.

jctut21

You will need:

White Card

Red Card

12 x 12 inch Backing Paper

Sentiment Stamp,

Circular Sentiment Stamp

Crystal Wreath Penny Black Stamp

Wow Gold Embossing Powder

Red Self Adhesive Rhinestones

Embellishments of our choice)

Spellbinders Scalloped Circle Die

Glue

Extra Strong Double Sided Tape

Scoring Board

Sissors/Craft Knife

Rule

Cuttlebug/Grand Calibur

JCTut

White Card cut and scored as follow:

1 x 30cm x 15cm scored at 7.1/2cm each end (as picture above),

1 x 23cm x 10cm scored at 1.1/2cm each end (as above)

1 x  10cm x 15cm

JCtut2

Red Card cut to:

4 pieces 6.1/2cm x 14.1/2cm

1 x 9.1/2cm x 14.1/2cm

1x 14.1/2cm square

1 x 19.1/2” x 9cm

jctut3

Backing Paper cut to:

4 x 6cm x 14cm

1 x 9cm x 14cm

1x 14cm square

1x 19cm x 9cm

jctut4  jctut5

Mat up your backing paper onto red card as shown and adhere to inside and outside of largest piece of White card

jctut7   jctut8

Cut a Spellbinder Scalloped Circle from the middle of the 9.1/2cm x 14.1/2” matted card, I run mine through the Cuttle Bug and it cut through all 3 layers perfectly.  Attach a strip of extra strong double sided tape to the top and bottom of the card on the wrong side as shown above.

jctut9

Remove the backing from the tape at the top of the die cut piece and attach to the top of the inside centre square Do Not remove the red tape from the DST on the bottom of the card we will do that later.

jctut10

Centre the sentiment under the scalloped circle and stick down,  do not stick down bottom of flap yet!!!!!

jctut11

Mat up the 20cm  x 9.1/2 cm strip (leaving the 1.1/2cm ends clear)

jctut12

Cut strip in half (as above).  Mark 2” down from Top and 2” in from Edge as sown and draw a line from each corner to meet at the 2” centre,  use this piece as a template for the other piece

jctut14

Cut out both triangles as above.

jctut16

Line up the strip so the middle of the triangle is in the middle of the scalloped circle , Adhere one side of the strip to one of the side panels of the card, as above, making sure you bring it out onto the side panel a short distance from the fold (if you adhere it on the fold line it will interfere with the mechanism and will not open properly).

jctut17

Line up the remaining strip and following the above instructions adhere to the opposite  side panel.

jctut18

Lift up the flap and arrange the two panels as above, over lapping at the front at the top and at the back at the bottom, study the picture to see what I mean (this step is important as it is the whole basis of the Shutter Mechanism).  Now you can tape down the flap to the bottom of the card.

jctut22

This is how your card should now look.

jctut21

I have used Crystal Wreath Penny Black Stamp embossed with Gold Wow Embossing Powder and added Red and Crystal Rhinestones and a few White Pearls on the front of the card.

Well I hope I have explained this simply if you have any queries just get in touch with me, I would love to see any Magic Shutter Cards you make using this tutorial.
