Time for a Tuesday Twosome

Just Magnolia First Monthly Challenge
sponsored by Simon Says Stamp

As promised, we're back with our first Simon Says Stamp monthly challenge! We are so excited - this has been in the planning for weeks and weeks and today's the day we get to show our creations to you all! Heidi from Simon Says Stamp has very generously agreed to sponsor this monthly challenge and the prize is .........

a whopping .......

$50 voucher to spend on what you want in their store!

Now, because this is a special challenge with an extra special prize the theme is a bit more challenging but we know you can all do it! This month the challenge is to alter a container - ANY container - for example a recycled paper bag, a empty box of chocolates, a custom made box, a canvas bag, a tin, a plastic tub - even a photo album (which our Marcea has done, such a clever idea). So you don't have to go out and buy something specifically to alter, we all have bits and bobs that can be altered for the challenge. The only specification is that you must use a Magnolia stamp on the project.

You have two weeks to enter, the challenge will close at 10pm on Tuesday 30th June and the winner will be picked by Random Generator.

This challenge is separate from the normal weekly challenge which will continue to run each week as usual. To see what the DT have come up with and find out more just click Here

I approached this with trepidation not very good at these altered projects, but I found an empty wooden Turkish Delight box and thought that would be a good place to start.

I covered the box and lid with K&CO paper, this was the easy part I just measured the sides of the box and cut strips to fit and cut a circle to fit the lid, I stuck matching ribbon around the sides of the lid. Now came the hard part deciding what image and embellies to use.

I knew from the beginning that I wanted to go for a vintage look, but just couldn't find a Tilda image that looked right, these tags were sitting on my desk, I had been playing with distress inks and glimmer mists after reading Kims tutorial, and had distressed the tags with Frayed Burlap Inks and sprayed them with Glimmer Mist, then I had a brainwave (very unusual for me) I would use a couple of Magnolia Accessories stamps on the tags, I used the Locket and the Heart Note stamps and them used a Stempleglede swirl stamp on the sides, I was really pleased with the results.

I them had to choose the embellies, the cream roses were misted with Creme de Chocolate Glimmer Mist (just loved the colour and effect it gave) I also added some Diamond Glaze to the petals to hopefully give the appearance of dew. I found some leaves in my flower box, punched the butterflies with MS Punch and glimmer misted them. I also made some paper beads which I put onto a wooden cocktail stick add some pearls and filigree and volia that was it.

Recipe:
Stamps - Magnolia available from Simon Says Stamps
Papers - K&Co
Colouring Medium - Glimmer Mist and Distress Inks also available from Simon Says Stamps
Embellies - Roses from Wild Orchid Crafts, Filigree from Eggstravaganza, rest from stash

A Spoonful of Sugar Challenge

This week we have a lovely sketch for you designed by our own Michelle. There is a great prize as well so don't forget to click Here to check this out. You will find some fab inspiration from the Dt and an GORGEOUS card from out GDT this week the fantastically talented and lovely Tab thanks dear, now if you havn't visited Tabs blog yet get yourself a cup of tea sit down and prepare yourself to be awed she has the most beautiful blog.

Cannot seem to get away from Pink and Green cards this week, I have used a fabulous set of stamp by Darcie for this card, I stamped and coloured a complete Ted and then just stamped coloured and cut out his paws, I then stamped, coloured and cut the accessories (cake, present and Hat) layered this all up and 3d the whole image onto the Nesties (following Bev's for the tutorial on how to make the edge around the largest nestie, thanks Hun MWAH XX). I have gone for a different colouring medium this time I thought I would give my Poly Chromos pencils and airing.

The Sentiment and cake are also from the same stamp set.

Recipe: Stamps Darcies Stamps from Simon Says Stamps
Papers DCWV Sugar Collection
Colour Medium - Poly Chromos Pencils and Sansodor
Tools - Nesties, 1" sq punch for corners
Embellies - from stash

Sorry for the long post today thanks for looking
Hugs
Jacqui xx
