Now for something different

002a

It is hard to believe how hard it is to make a plain card, I had a strict remit for this boys card – It must be blue, have no embellishments and feature a little boy.  You wouldn’t think that would be difficult would you!!!!, well it was it took me ages last night to finish this one and I am still not happy with it.

002

I love this image of Owen watching his boat from Lili of the Valley which has been coloured with Copics and Prismas, The paper is from my stash and I have used a Martha Stewart Large Border Punch which I have added Glamour Dust to, it looks as if it is not straight on this picture, but I can assure yoy it is IRL, I think it must be the angle I have taken the picture at, (note to myself: have some photography lessons!!).  The stars are also punched with a Martha Stewart Punch.  Can you tell I am really not happy with this card.

003Off to Margate today to see Charlie.

Have a lovely day

Awww Jacqui, don't be so hard on yourself! It's really lovely, the image speaks for the card and you've coloured it beautifully as always. I think we're just so used to all the flowers and embellies but honestly it's lovely. Lotsa luv xxxx

I think that the reason you are not happy with this card is because its along time since you have made a card without embellies...you don't do yourself justice though hun, cos this card is just as beautiful as your other creations :0)

We've really got to stop being so hard on ourselves Jacqui, cos this is fabulous. Love the little chap and the little stars and just the right amount of sparkle.

This is very pretty, but I wouldn't have placed the stars there at all. They don't have any relation to the other items on the card, hard for me to explain. What do they do there in a bright sunny sky? Maybe this is why you are so unhappy with the card. The button as ebellishment is perfect, the fence is okay, too.

I know the feeling. It is 1) really hard to make a boy's card and 2) really hard not to use embellishments. This is why we are girls, we like everything fancy and cute :) Most of the time I take the image of a boy's card as the 'center piece', so you don't have too much other stuff to fill up. Then it's not that hard :) I really love love your border lace there! Didn't know it was a punch!!
Have a lovely day!

Jacqui I absolutely love the card sweetie, blue and red is such a fab colour combo and perfect for a little lad. The red stars are the perfect finishing touch and really lift the blue. And that's my favourite LOTV image (remember our Ben's log boy - who could forget him lol) and you've coloured him to perfection. Don't be so hard on yourself sweetie, it really is a fabby card, in fact it's perfect just as it is and I wouldn’t change a thing!! xxx
