Paper Take Weekly - Thanks a Latte

I am going to be really busy in the next couple of weeks with some DT work for Crafters Companion, but I have made myself a promise to try to do at least one challenge a day. This is todays effort. Papertake Weekly Challenge this week is Thanks a Latte which can be translated as either a simple Thank you card or one made in Coffee and cream. As you can see I opted for the latter, I used Katharina Sketch No 10 and this is my first card with the new Sarah Kay stamps, they are great to work with, she has been coloured with distress inks, the images stippled around the edge with brown inks, the cream pearlescent card has been embossed with Swiss Dots folder in the Cuttlebug. Dp are all bits I had left in my stash box as were the buttons, ribbons and brads from Poppicraft, flowers from Joanna Sheen and sentiment stamp Elusive Images. TFL.
I will try to get round to visiting as many blogs as I can tonight if I don't manage everyone I apologise.

Cute Card Thursday - No Patterned Paper

Ohhh!! this was a daunting challenge at first - No Patterned Paper!! - have not used plain card for ages, but with the great DT members inspiration and the chance of some great Candy on offer from Banyan Crafts I set about crafting. I had a delivery from Alota yesterday and included was the desert island and hut stamp, that was my starting point. I coloured the Sky sea and sand with chalks then used Prisma Colours, Sansodor and H2O's to colour in the other elements on the background stamp. I used the Witch Doctor, Camp fire and Sun stamps by High Hopes, these were coloured in the same way. Matted the whole image on Brown Brazzil, Cream Pearlescent and Lime green card. The Brad and ribbon are from Poppicraft and the round greeting from Aud Design. I would like to say to anyone who has not ordered from Alota and are put off by them having to come from America, the service and delivery are excellent and the price with the exchange rate at the moment is fantastic.

A Spoonful of Sugar Challenge - No 5 Checks Galore

Firstly you can call me mad if you like, but I have a theory I would like to share with you all, I have noticed whist blog hopping that a lot of people have had their mojos go missing, mine came back for a couple of days but was off again yesterday, My theory is that they are either attending a mojo convention in The Dominican Republic or they have gone on strike because we have overworked them, well thats my theory.
Anyway down to business have you seen the great cards from the DT members over at
A Spoonful of Sugar I suggest you have a look, there is some great blog candy up for grabs donated by Donna at Crafty Krafts the challenge this week is Checks Galore, so here is my take on it I just love this stamp and think it lends itself so well to a baby congrats card, I have coloured it with PolyChromos pencils and Sansodor, this medium is great for blending colours.

Katharina Sketch No 16

Katharina has a brilliant new sketch on her blog and will be choosing 1 card on Sunday to feature on her website. Sugar Nellies Blog are also offering a lovely stamp to the creater of the chosen card. So I could not pass up this challenge and I wanted to use My Sweet & Sassy stamp again. She has been coloured with Distress Inks with Sukura pens for a little detail on the flowers and I have added crystal Stickles on her little heart necklace. I am getting used to my new sewing machine so thought I would also use that on the card. I have not added too much to the card as I think the papers and the stamp are great on their own. Don't forget to visit Katharina and Suger Nellie's Blogs and have a go.

A nice and relaxing one today, Just a birthday card, well if you pop over and see the Fab cards by the DT you will see its not JUST a birthday card. After all the shapes and different techniques I have tried this week this is quite an easy and simple card. This lovely stamp by PB is called Hanging Around and I received it yesterday, it was just calling out to be used. I have coloured the image with Distress Inks and HO's. Instead of fabric flowers, which I have rather over used in the last few days, I thought I would stamp the Lovely Magnolia Dog Rose and leaves. The paper is Basic Grey Sugared collection the Swirl stamp is also Basic Grey, I have added little pearls onto the end of the swirls and finally the round sentiment is from Aud Designs

Second Card for A Spoonful of Sugar No 2

I was really dissapointed at the way my first card photographed it looked so washed out, so I have done a second card. This one has been coloured with Faber Castell Polychromos pencils and Sansodor. The centre of the flower has been glittered with pale green glitter, I embossed a card wrap from Craftwork cards after colouring it with pale pink chalk eyes, after embossing I thought I would Rub the ink pad back over on the wrong side for a change I am quite pleased with it. Ribbon and Brads are Poppicraft and DP Basic Grey. Much happier with this one. TFL

A Spoonful of Sugar Challenge - No. 2

A Colour scheme
Todays challenge over on A Spoonful of Sugar was to make a card using Pink, Blue, Green, allowing flesh tone and brown as needed. I have tried something a bit different today, I got the idea from Camillas lovely blog. The card is pearlescent pink and green and the backing papers are from stash. I coloured the beautiful Sweet Ebony image with watercolours, and stardust pens. The pink swirl was stamped with Pearlescent Orchid Brilliance Ink Pad, all the backing papers have been edged with pink or green chalk inks. I cut the label from green card and put it through the cuttlebug in an embossing folder then edged that with dark green inks. So sweet sentiment came with the Sweet Ebony set of 6 stamps from Funky Kits. Ribbon Button and heart embellishment are from stash. Hope you like TFL
